Clubhouse: Dorothy Jarman reported that
the pest control service had been out to the clubhouse on July 22 and no pests
were found; however, the weatherstripping on the door
to the pool pump room needs to be replaced.
The new
cleaning service cleaned the clubhouse on July 23 and will return to clean the
last Wednesday of every month.
Dorothy met
with Cintas, which conducted a complete inspection of the clubhouse. All fire
extinguishers need to be replaced. Exit signs are OK, with the exception of the
sign near the Ladies rest room. Ted Ergo indicated that he thinks he may be
able to get this service for less money.
Dorothy has
not yet heard from the fire department concerning their safety inspection.
Dorothy also reported
that she rented the West Room of the clubhouse recently and the air
conditioning did not seem to be cooling the room adequately.
There is one
clubhouse rental scheduled on August 24th from 6 to 9.
There is
paint chipping and wood rotting on the door and sills outside the clubhouse.
They could temporarily be filled with epoxy, but we need to get estimates to
replace the doors.
Finance: No Treasurer’s report. The Board is not aware of any
financial issues.
Pool
Committee: April Booras noted
that the Committee is composed of 7 members (6 of whom were in attendance),
including both men and women, people with and without children, people who use
the pool and people who don’t.
The State of
Illinois establishes the laws that govern the pool. The Committee determines
how the pool is used and maintained.
April
addressed 3 current issues concerning the pool:
1.Volume of
voices: there is no rule concerning the volume of voices; this would be hard to
measure in any event.
2.Respect for
attendants: the attendants’ interpretation of the rules is final.
3.Flotation
devices: no very large flotation devices are allowed; other devices are allowed
at the discretion of the attendant.
Committee recommendations are always subject
to the approval of the Board.
April
reported that it was a great year at the pool, with the new equipment helping
to maintain a high quality of water. The new heater is very energy efficient.
Attendance has been somewhat lower this year.
Back-to-school
pool schedule begins on August 13: attendants will be present from 3:30 to
6:00. The Committee hopes to keep the pool open until mid-September.
General
discussion and recommendations:
A request was
made that for next year’s pool season, the role of the attendants be spelled out
more clearly. Homeowners should be aware that the attendants are not
lifeguards. Homeowners are responsible for their own children. Attendants are
to check the bathrooms. Homeowners with a complaint or concern about activity
at the pool should approach the attendant and not another homeowner.
It was suggested that residents who dislike
the noise level at the pool during family hours should use the pool during
adult hours. It was noted (and the Board had previous to the meeting done its
due diligence to confirm) that the Sunday morning one hour
exercise “class” conducted by April Booras at the
pool is held without any money charged and is open to any residents. It was
requested that the minutes include the information that this exercise “class”
is open to all residents. If a resident wishes to use
the pool during the time she is conducting her “class”, the exercise group must
make room for any residents.
Ted Ergo
noted that the rule about approaching an attendant as opposed to confronting
another resident was not completely clear initially and is being further
clarified as we learn from experience. He stated that any pool rule suggestions
should be sent to the Board and/or the Pool Committee for consideration for
next year’s pool season.
Architectural
Review Committee: Linda
Grahovec reported that another project has been
approved; we are averaging about one a month.
Social
Committee: The
Summerfest party was a success, with adults and children enjoying bouncy
houses, a visit from the Oswego Fire Department, and plenty of food and
beverages. Early storms held attendance down somewhat from last year.
An
Octoberfest party is under consideration.
Welcome
Committee: Ted Ergo
reported that he met with the new family at 40 Oak Creek Drive and presented
them with a gift certificate. He will attempt to meet with two more new
families this week.
General
Business: Ted Ergo is
looking into signs to alert homeowners “HOA meeting tonight”.
Jim Lee
reported that he obtained an estimate of $550 for new lines for the pickle ball
court. Ted Ergo stated he will get one more estimate.
General
discussion ensued concerning the playground equipment and the high cost of
replacing it. This may be a long term budget item when
the 2020 budget is considered and approved at the December and January
meetings.
Ellen Larson
reported that she has obtained additional information concerning the possible
transfer of ownership of Lot 7 from Property Concepts to the HOA. She and Linda
Grahovec are working on this.
On motion,
second and approval, the meeting was adjourned.
Next Board
meeting: September 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse.
