April 2017 Oak Creek Association Meeting

Minutes of the April 3rd Homeowners Association Meeting:

All Board members present:  Al Hardersen, Eric Paetzel, Ted Ergo, John Robinson and Tom Hytry

The following homeowners were also present: Gene Dunne, Ray Mertens, Jim & Janice Lee, George Booras,   Dorothy Jarman and Carole Crum.

Good News!: Our claim for replacing the roof of the west hall of the club house has been approved by our insurance company.  The cost of replacing the roof is over $70K and without the insurance payments the cost would have to be cover by the homeowners. (over $1000 per lot owner.)  The insurance company at first rejected the claim saying the construction of the west hall was substandard.

The following people worked for over a year to get the insurance company to approve the claim: John Wyeth, Gene Dunne, Jim Lee and Al Hardersen.  John Wyeth did our part of the legal work for free.

The above team had a structural engineering firm look at the damage.  The structural firm report indicated that the damage was from the same snow buildup that caused the need for replacement of the roof on the clubhouse fireplace room.  John Wyeth and team then worked with a lawyer that specialized in insurance claims to prepare the appeal.

Once again we need to thank to above team (and especially John Wyeth for donating his legal time) for saving each lot owner over a $1000 which would have been needed for the repair of the west hall roof.

Surveillance System for Club House/ Pool: The Surveillance System has been purchased and is in the process of being installed.  It consists of 8 individually programmable cameras tried to a video recorder in the club house.  Concerns were raised at the meeting about what would be recorded and how that information would be accessed.  The board is working on the issues and it will be open for discussion at the next meeting.

Pool: Set to open on Memorial Day weekend.

Grounds: The tree by the clubhouse that was planted in memory of Gene Crum needs to be removed.

It will be replaced by a news tree.

Social: Planning a pool opening party sometime in June.

Next board meeting:  The second Monday in May: May 8th starting at 7:00 p.m.

The association meetings are moving to the second Monday of the month so that the board has more time to go over our Ave 1000 financial report (it comes out on the first of the month.)
